The P/ART 14 was held from September 11 to 14 in a vacant industrial building in the Phoenix Fabrikhallen in Hamburg Harburg. A specially for the exhibition halls conceived architecture, partly as hanging cubes and an architecture which offered over four floors of exhibition space, comprised 81 artists and their works. Up to 4000 visitors came to see the large-scale installations, the paintings, the photography and the cinematic works as well as to participate in the framework program of performances and discussions.
The P/ART seeks for secluded and unused places and tries to vivify these with art for 4 days.
In the first year an elaborate exhibition architecture has been arranged in a vacant industrial building on the area of the Kolbenhof in Hamburg Bahrenfeld on 2500 sqm using scaffolding. There were built seven semi-transparent exhibition-cubes, which housed most of the artists. In this way, the open concept of the P/ART continued in a modular and transparent building structure.
Supplemented with lateral cabinets, interfaces, outdoor area and private rooms, a place has been created in close consultation with the artists, where about 400 artworks were exhibited. Many of the works were specially created or adapted for the particular surroundings, so that a diversified range of genres and types of work, from painting to photography, via sculptures and performances, to installations and ready-mades, could be issued.
For the P/ART Producers Artfair each year, a comprehensive catalog is produced, which can be purchased at the show and also thereafter. In both years the edition was 500 copies. Next to a extensive artists overview it includes a discursive part: 2013 with texts from Tobias Muno, Rosali Wiesheu, Diedrich Diederichsen and Tilman Kriesel and the topic of appreciation of art, 2014 with texts from Andreas Reckwitz, Inga Wellmann, Julian Thomas and Suhail Malik about the issues art and public, insight into video art, social aestheticization and the so-called creativity-dispositiv.
